Some of Jamail’s major cases include representing Pennzoil in their 1985 lawsuit against Texaco. He won the case and received a contingency fee of $335 million. He was known as a generous man giving many large donations to places such as Rice University and The University of Texas at Austin. UT named their football field Joe Jamail Field in his honor. There’s also the Joseph D. Jamail, Jr. Pavilion at The University of Texas School of Law and the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center..
