A Dutch native who settled in Australia at age 14, John first started to accumulate his fortune in 2006 when he sold his Super A-Mart discount furniture chain but kept the stores’ buildings. By leasing them back, the properties provide him a steady rental income that he is using to invest in real estate development, most notably in retail and residential projects in Queensland.
