Nowadays, the Scripilliti family still owns 100% of the business, even though it was established back in 1918, when Maria Helena’s father bought a textile factory in Sao Paulo. It was Maria’s late husband Clovis Scripilliti that helped Votorantim expand in northeast Brazil during the 1960s and 1970s. While her son Clovis Ermírio de Moraes Scripilliti now serves as vice chairman of the board. Five other family members enjoy the billionaire status.
