For most of the last 30 years, being one of Vladimir Putin’s cronies has pretty much been a no-lose situation. Sort of like being assigned to Mark Zuckerberg’s dorm room at Harvard or being born into the Royal family. If you were lucky or smart enough to become best buddies with Vladimir back in the late 80s/early 90s, there’s a very good chance that you are a billionaire today. And if you were unlucky or dumb enough to become one of Putin’s enemies, there’s a very good chance that you are rotting away in a Siberian jail right now, or literally just rotting away 🙁 But these last few weeks and months have brought a very new and different feeling to Vladimir’s cronies....

It is an entirely new phenomenon. In 2000, just 17 years ago, there was one billionaire in all of Mainland China. Today there are more than 300. What’s even more impressive is that in the first three months of 2015, China made a new billionaire nearly every single week. Since then, the Chinese billionaire boom has just picked up more and more speed. The current year’s list of billionaires had 76 newly minted Chinese billionaires on it – more than any other country....

And while the record-setting $6.1 billion price tag turned heads, the biggest surprise wasn’t the money—it was the man writing the check… Until this week, Bill Chisholm was a total unknown to most sports fans and even many in the private equity world. No Wikipedia page. No photos on Getty Images. No profile on CelebrityNetWorth.com. Just a diehard Celtics fan from small-town Massachusetts stepping into the spotlight. Bill Chisholm, the managing partner of Symphony Technology Group, agreed to buy the Celtics for a whopping $6....

The deal is worth $120 million over three seasons. Per ESPN’s Buster Olney, the agreement features “significant deferrals,” with about $30 million coming Bregman’s way after the three years are up. That’s an 18% increase of 2019’s revenue of $2.7 billion and a 60% increase over 2018’s revenue of $1.3 billion. If it was a strategy to drum up a little bit of free publicity for the condo listing, it worked. CNBC profiled the listing, turning to online real-estate site Redfin for some insight into how unusual it is to accept bitcoins – and no other form of currency – for a piece of real estate: It’s not unheard of for sellers to accept bitcoins, but the unusual thing about this listing is that no other forms of currency are being accepted, at least not as of this writing....
