She founded SANERC (Semahat Arsel Nursing Education & Research Center) in 1992 and ever since she has served as president there. Also, she holds the position of vice president at the Florence Nightingale Fund as well as she is the founder of the Koc University Nursing Academy. Her siblings, brother Rahmi Koc and sister Suna Kýrac, and her nephews, Mustafa, Omer and Ali Koc, join her on the list of billionaires.
