His debut film role came in 1989’s Zelyonyy ogon kozy. He has also starred in the films Ivan & Abraham, Limita, The Thief, Sympathy Seeker, Composition for Victory Day, Mama, The Captain’s Daughter, Dancing at the Blue Iguana, 15 Minutes, An American Rhapsody, Tycoon: A New Russian, Daddy, The State Counsellor, Piranha, The Ghost, Kandagar, The Edge, and Rasputin. Mashkov also directed the 1997 film Sympathy Seeker and wrote, directed, and produced the 2004 film Daddy. He has won two Geneva Film Festival Awards, a Golden Eagle, Award, two Moscow International Film Festival Awards, and two Nika Awards.
